Welcome to Boomchuck on the Web!
Welcome to my new website. I hope you find something useful here.
Be sure to check out the Western Oregon Boomerang Roundup!
Here's a great place to find information on boomerangs, why they work, the people that throw them, and other boomerang events. Just go visit The United States Boomerang Association
Boomchuck is the handle, but the real name is Dean Kelly. I've been Boomchuck at
one place or another since 1991 when I first made my way out to the Internet.
My primary interests are boomerangs (hence the name),
Classic Ford Mustangs, and Amateur Astronomy.
Click here to see a great animation from the SOHO observatory. What you're seeing is the sun on May 17, 2000. Look over to the right and you'll see Jupiter and Venus, Venus being the brighter of the two. As you watch you'll see Jupiter slide in behind Venus, in what is called a conjunction, so it appears to be one bright star. Too bad it was so close to the sun! In 2 BC this happened in the night sky and is referred to by many as the Christmas Star. Was it? Who knows, but it's one explanation.
